The Wake Up Call from Mid Life

Jun 30, 2025

Maybe I need to make these blog posts more frequent than weekly because there's a lot to get through. Here goes...

If you’d told me a year ago that I’d be running my business differently, showing up more boldly, and rethinking almost everything I believed about health and success; I wouldn’t have believed you.

But here I am.

Midlife came in quietly at first. The fatigue. The brain fog. The bloating. The joints that ached for no reason. The complete inability to eat how I used to and still feel good in my body.

At first, I thought I was slipping. Failing. Falling behind.
Turns out, I was just entering a new chapter that I wasn't expecting for another few years.

This is perimenopause. And it changes everything.

You can’t just “eat clean” and push through. You can’t outwork your nervous system or pretend your hormones haven’t shifted. And you certainly can’t keep living like your body doesn’t need a new kind of respect.

Here's the thing... I don’t want to just talk about the struggle. I want to talk about what this season is teaching me.

Because while some doors have closed; others have swung wide open.

I’m Stronger Now; Just Not in the Same Way

In my 20s and 30s, I could live on protein bars and ambition. I trained for performance. I prided myself on how much I could juggle. I hustled hard.

Now? My strength looks different.

It looks like:

  • prioritising sleep over social life or Netflix

  • training with purpose, not punishment

  • walking more and stressing less

  • building muscle and managing blood sugar

  • fuelling my body, not restricting it

  • feeling deeply instead of pushing things down

This isn’t decline, it’s refinement. And I’ve never felt more sure of who I am.

July Is a Line in the Sand

We’re halfway through 2025. Six months gone. Six months left.

For some people, that realisation brings panic.
But for me, it brings even more clarity.

Because I’ve decided that the second half of this year won’t be a repeat of the first.

I’m not chasing perfection. I’m choosing embodiment. I’m not waiting for motivation. I’m building structure. I’m not setting shiny new goals. I’m sticking to daily habits that change how I live, work, and show up.

If you’ve felt scattered, stagnant, or overwhelmed this year, let this be your wake-up call:
You have time. You have power. You can still change everything.

But it starts with honesty. Ownership. And a commitment to actually doing the work that matters.

And Then… There’s This

A few weeks ago, I did Race For Life with a client and became aware of how Slimming World is now a sponsor of Race for Life; the cancer fundraising event run by Cancer Research UK.

And I had to pause.

As someone who works with people on a cancer journey; both in rehab and recovery, I know how damaging shame-based health narratives can be. I’ve seen people just out of treatment questioning their food choices, obsessing over their weight, and feeling like they somehow failed their health.

I believe Race for Life is a powerful event. The movement, the stories, the community; they matter.

But when a weight-loss brand takes to the stage in a space meant to honour strength and healing, we need to ask:
What message are we sending?

Are we saying movement matters only if it leads to weight loss? Are we choosing diets, restriction and sins over whole foods and nourishment?
Are we reinforcing that smaller is better?
Are we linking health to appearance in a space that should be about resilience and life?

I believe in conversations that go deeper. In empowering people with real education, not guilt. In health without shame. In movement without moral labels.

A New Kind of Health Revolution

The system seems to be catching up.

The NHS just announced a shift in focus; away from reactive treatment and toward prevention.
A long-term plan to centre early detection, health education, and community-led wellbeing initiatives.

Which is exactly the kind of work I’ve been doing and will keep doing.

This tells me we’re on the cusp of something bigger.
That mindset, movement, and lifestyle medicine aren’t “extras” but instead, they’re essential.

That coaching isn’t about body transformations; it’s about life transformations.

That women’s health isn’t niche;  it’s foundational.

What All This Means for You (and For Me)

Over the coming months, you’ll see some shifts in how I work.

💬 More in-person collaboration and community
🧠 More focus on mindset, long-term health, and nervous system regulation
🏋️‍♀️ More strength-based, personalised coaching, especially for midlife and women navigating health challenges
📝 More real conversations, less fluff
📢 More calling out what’s broken, and building what’s better

Omni is evolving. I am evolving. And I know many of you are too.

If you’re tired of the noise, the guilt, the quick fixes, the start-again Mondays,
you’re in the right place.

Because this isn’t about fitting in.
It’s about finally building the health, business/career, body and life that fit you.

Are you ready to take your power back? The second half of 2025 starts now. Are you moving forward or are you staying stuck?
